When Samina first approached our organisation, she was looking to build her confidence, learn new skills, and find ways to give back to her community.
Samina joined our Community Champion and Development Training programme, where she learned leadership, communication, and project skills. Inspired by what she’d learned, she began volunteering with us — supporting local events, running awareness sessions, and encouraging others in her neighbourhood to get involved.
Seeing her dedication and progress, our team provided one-to-one support to help Samina take her next steps towards employment. We helped her update her CV, write a strong personal statement, and practice interview skills. We also gave her a reference to strengthen her job applications.
Samina’s hard work paid off: she recently started her first paid job with a local organisation. She says the training and volunteering helped her gain confidence and valuable experience she could show employers.
“Before, I didn’t think I had anything to offer. Now I feel proud — I am working, supporting my family, and I still volunteer in my spare time. I want to show other women in my community that it’s possible.”
